from an ancient people who lived in West Mexico, around the area we now know as the states of Jalisco, Nayarit and Colima.

I'm just going to give this to you straight and unedited. The figurines you're seeing here and previously are just the tip of the collection. The collection is vast. The figurines are predominantly fun, cute, and amazing. What is most amazing about them is that they're not violent or evil in any way. They don't show any signs of a culture of dominance. They are playing musical instruments, dancing, hanging out around their homes with their children.

Okay, so you do things like this, what's so amazing? Think about prehistoric Mexico for a second. What comes instantly to your mind? Aztecs? Mayans? Cultures of sacrifice and war? Mel Gibson's latest directoral effort?

Most people are familiar with the prehistoric Mexican civilizations along the Gulf of Mexico, the Mayans, as well as the Aztec civilization in the heartland. However few are familiar with the West Mexico civilization that made these figurines. Here's an enticing fact, the ancient West Mexican culture we now call Tarascan was never conquered by the Aztecs.
